Turning a world-class video corpus into a searchable asset
A technology company holds one of the most distinctive egocentric video corpora in the world: real-world, first-person footage of human assistance, rich with implicit task context. Physical AI labs want exactly this kind of data. But the corpus was monetized as raw licensed footage, and raw footage is hard to sell. Prospective partners could not browse it, search it, or evaluate what they were buying.
Slapshot built the front door.
We proposed a hosted sample and discovery environment: 10,000 clips ingested onto dedicated Slapshot Vision infrastructure, indexed with our semantic structuring tool, and served through a secure portal the client controls.
The work started with taxonomy, not technology. We co-designed the metadata structure with the client so the index reflects the categories buyers actually search on: scene, activity, object, and interaction. Every clip in the sample is indexed against that agreed taxonomy. The archive becomes a navigable asset.
Reviewers access the corpus through a web application with search, filter, preview, and clip-level metadata views. The client administers invitations. Every user authenticates with mandatory two-factor login, and every session is logged. The security architecture follows the client’s own policies: encryption in transit and at rest, signed URLs with short-lived tokens, and controls confirmed in joint security review rather than assumed defaults.
Storage is architected for isolation, so additional content shards in over time without re-architecting. And the hosting environment is the front door to Slapshot’s four annotation modules, Classification, Segmentation, Depth, and Camera Tracking, when the client is ready to enrich the data.
The build runs eight weeks from taxonomy scoping to soft launch. The result: prospective partners evaluate the dataset directly, and partnership decisions accelerate.
